SCARFACE: THE AWAKENING
Written by Shimone
EXT. MAASAI MARA - DAWN (YEARS EARLIER)
The Musketeers are nothing but sweet, innocent cubs tumbling in the tall grass. Their mother watches over them, a picture of peace.
But the Mara is unforgiving. A brutal flash flood and a sudden stampede of terrified wildebeest tear the family apart. In the ensuing chaos, their mother is lost to the surging river, sacrificing herself so her cubs can reach the high ground.
Suddenly, the four brothers are orphans. Cold, starving, and hunted.
Over the next grueling months, they face a brutal gauntlet of survival. They fight for scraps against vicious honey badgers. They narrowly escape the snapping jaws of massive Nile crocodiles in the muddy shallows. It is a daily, relentless fight to the death against the Mara's deadliest inhabitants.
EXT. ROCKY OUTCROP - SUNSET
They are older now, sub-adults, their bodies hardened by trauma. A massive, battle-scarred LEOPARD drops from an acacia tree, cornering the smallest brother, Sikio. The others freeze in terror.
But SCARFACE steps forward. He does not cower. Even young, he possesses a terrifying, unnatural gravity. He was born to lead.
THE VOICE vibrates through the earth, echoing only in Scarface's mind.
THE VOICE (V.O.)
A king is not crowned in times of peace, little one. He is forged in the crucible of loss. Step forward and claim your throne.
With a guttural roar that belongs to a much older lion, Scarface launches himself at the leopard. It is a brutal, blinding flurry of claws and fangs. Scarface takes deep slashes to his flank, but he drives the heavier predator back with sheer, psychotic ferocity, slamming it against the rocks until the leopard breaks away and flees into the brush.
Scarface stands bleeding, chest heaving, shielding his brothers. The hierarchy is settled. He has officially taken charge.
EXT. WATERING HOLE - MIDDAY
Weeks later. The four brothers walk together, Scarface firmly at the helm.
A massive, solitary CAPE BUFFALO—a creature that routinely tramples young lions to death—blocks their path. The buffalo lowers its horns, preparing to charge and obliterate the young males.
Scarface doesn't break stride. He walks directly toward the two-ton beast, his golden eyes locked onto it with absolute, mythic certainty.
The buffalo hesitates. It senses something entirely unnatural in the young lion's aura—a presence too dangerous to test. The massive beast snorts, shifts its immense weight, and miraculously steps aside, retreating into the reeds.
The Musketeers walk past untouched. The Mara is beginning to understand: a king has awakened.
CUT TO BLACK.
